The Center for Applied Research on the Environment and Sustainability (CARES) was established in 2012 to help Egypt face the challenges of sustainability and sustainability education. It links and integrates different parties as part of an ambitious and comprehensive movement for sustainable development. CARES is unique in its integration of all the AUC schools and research bodies to develop innovative, creative and achievable green solutions for the challenges facing the sustainable development of Egypt and the region.
AUC works already closely together with the other project partners. AUC, BUE and UoC did already build up a DAAD cooperation in the field of renewable energy (BaSEF project). The aim had been to build up intercultural academic networks between the project partners. Furthermore, AUC coordinated the application for the “African Agriculture Climate Adaption” program of the Science for Africa foundation together with the Université Mohammed V in Rabat. The project “Application of innovative ioT for Agricultural irrigation system as a response to climate change (POTAGE) promotes innovative solutions for agriculture.
