H2-Markets Summer School – Exchange, Inspiration, and Innovation in the Field of Hydrogen

The H2-Markets project hosts an annual international Summer School in Germany, providing a dynamic platform for academic exchange among our partner universities. The event focuses on the latest developments, challenges, and future perspectives of hydrogen technologies and their role in emerging energy markets.

Professors share innovative research ideas and present new approaches in the field of hydrogen economy. At the same time, students are invited to actively participate – gaining inspiration for their academic projects, exchanging ideas across disciplines, and developing creative solutions to real-world challenges in economics and engineering.

A key highlight of the Summer School is the opportunity to visit companies and industrial sites within Germany’s energy sector. These excursions allow participants to experience firsthand the intersection of mechanical engineering and economic frameworks shaping the energy transition.

The Summer School fosters knowledge transfer between research and practice and promotes international dialogue between young talents and experienced experts. It offers a space for collaboration, fresh thinking, and long-term networking – across disciplines and beyond borders.

H2-Markets Summer School 2024 – International Exchange in Cologne

The H2-Markets Summer School 2024 took place from August 12–16 at the University of Cologne. Professors and students from our partner universities – the American University in Cairo (AUC), the British University in Egypt (BUE), and Mohammed V University in Morocco – came together in Cologne for a week full of academic exchange, collaborative learning, and intercultural networking.

In addition to a rich program of lectures, workshops, and discussions, participants had the opportunity to visit Siemens Energy in Mülheim an der Ruhr, gaining first-hand insights into hydrogen technologies and industrial innovations in the energy sector.

Prior to the Summer School, a networking and coordination week was held from August 5–9, bringing together professors from the partner institutions and the project coordination team in Cologne. As part of this week, the group also visited the Wilo Park in Dortmund – a state-of-the-art industrial site showcasing sustainable solutions in water management and energy systems.

We were also pleased to welcome guest researchers from two Nigerian universities, whose presence added further depth and diversity to the international dialogue.

H2-Markets Summer School 2025 – International Exchange in Cologne

The H2-Markets Summer School 2025 took place from August 25–29 at the University of Cologne, bringing together students and professors from our partner universities: the American University in Cairo (AUC), the British University in Egypt (BUE), and Mohammed V University in Morocco. Throughout the week, participants engaged in a dynamic program of lectures, workshops, and collaborative learning, fostering academic exchange and intercultural dialogue.

A particular highlight was the excursion to Wilo Park in Dortmund on August 29, where participants explored cutting-edge technologies and sustainable solutions in water management and energy systems. The visit left a strong impression and sparked engaging discussions on the future of green infrastructure.

Looking ahead, we are hopeful that experts from Wilo Park’s branches in Cairo will join us for the upcoming H2-Markets Winter School in Cairo, further strengthening the collaboration between academia and industry across our network.

The upcoming H2-Markets Summer School 2026 will be announced here soon.
